The presentation will review specific experiences with the materials used to address surface facilities and downhole corrosion. It will also focus on demonstrating the basic design practices without a "SME second pass design" based on "hidden exposures" and the lack of experience that can lead to significant failures. Topic: The Buckskin Development
Buckskin is a lower tertiary Wilcox discovery located in the Keathley Canyon protraction area of the Gulf of Mexico. The discovery includes two subsalt four-way closures with an estimated 5 billion barrels of oil in place which is one of the largest discoveries in the trend. The field has excellent rock and fluid properties compared to other lower tertiary discoveries and is in the "Outboard Trend" of the play which will allow development using existing 15k technology. LLOG will develop the field as a subsea tieback to the Anadarko operated Lucius spar and expects to begin production in July 2019.
This presentation will provide an overview all phases of the Buckskin development including LLOG's entry into the field, facilities, steps to greatly reduce project cost, and the drilling of the first two development wells.
