Topic: “The Snakes That Bite You” – Lessons Learned About Surface and Subsurface Materials and Corrosion Failures in Oil & Gas Production- Corrosion affects every aspect of the Oil & Gas Industry from Up Stream to Downstream and can be very costly, estimated cost in the US alone are in the Billions. The presentation will review specific experiences with the materials used to address surface facilities and downhole corrosion. It will also focus on demonstrating the basic design practices without a “SME second pass design” based on “hidden exposures” and the lack of experience that can lead to significant failures. This presentation helps recollect corporate memory of past mistakes to avoid.
