The Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair was held on
March 17th at the UNO Human Performance Center. API judged the
Senior Division of the Energy Category. The winners and their
teachers were recognized and presented awards on March 18th. The Chairman's Award went to Jonathon Addison for "What Can You
Find In A Core Sample". He is a student at John Ehret High School.
He along with his science teacher, Donna Donahoe was awarded a
check for $150. The Distinguished Project Award went to Darvelle Carter for
"What Effect Does Water Salinity Have on Oil Spreading Distance? He
is a student at Thomas Jefferson Senior High School. Darvelle along
with his science teacher, Judy Schmollinger, was awarded a $100
check. The Honorable Mention Award went to Thuan Bui for "Simple
Technique to Clean Oil Spillage". He is a student at Abramson
Science and Technology School. Thuan along with his science
teacher, Yunus Bicici, was awarded a check for $50. Congratulations
to the winners!
