2007 Meritorious Service Awards
The Annual API Meritorious Service Awards Luncheon was held at the Le Pavillon Hotel this year and was a great success. Two of New Orleans local geologists, Duncan Goldthwaite and Mike Fein, were honored on February 20, 2007 at the joint industry societies meeting. The guest speaker at the Luncheon was George Wentz, an attorney with a local firm, who is co-founder of the non-profit organization, Horizon Initiative, which he started over a year ago. This is a grass roots organization of local business, civic and university leaders that are dedicated to a long-term vision of economic development for New Orleans. All three men were born and raised in the Northeastern part of the US, but call the New Orleans area home and are striving to make it a better place for people and businesses. You can go online to www.api-delta.org to learn more about these gentlemen, their history and go-forward plans in the February 2008 Newsletter. The API greatly appreciates, encourages and acknowledges all of the hard work that these individuals have and are doing to improve the local economy.
The API Delta Chapter is continuing its dedication to recognize local men and women that actively work towards the rebuilding of our industry, community and organization. If you know of someone who has selflessly served the industry and community and deserves recognition, then please submit their names and accomplishments to one of our local societies for consideration for next year’s Meritorious Service Award.
