STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER

JOB TITLE: STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER
JOB DESCRIPTION: The structural design engineer will be involved in the design of all types of marine structures for the oil and gas industry, including offshore platforms, onshore platforms, drilling and work over rigs, and such miscellaneous facilities as heliports and crew quarters buildings. The engineer will also complete feasibility studies on a given project, which will include the investigation of alternate engineering solutions, preparation of preliminary designs, preparation of proposal drawings and budget cost estimates and development of project schedules. In addition, upon project approval, the engineer will assemble necessary environmental data, develop the design basis, utilize computer facilities for structural design calculations and prepare contract drawings and bills of materials.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's in Civil Engineering.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of computer systems desirable.
ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Engineering management promoted from within. Entry level may advance as consulting specialists or project supervisors.

Announcements

The API Delta Chapter Board of Directors have approved a donation to a joint LSU-UNO levee monitoring project in the amount of $7500. The API Delta Chapter supports this project to predict and prevent levee failures. We also support the joint LSU -UNO collaboration and training of students in the use of state-of-the-art Near Surface Geophysics technologies. The API Delta Chapter joins our sister societies in support of this worthy project. Information on the Levee Monitoring Project can be obtained in the accompanying presentation.
