Chairman's Message 2012

As I write my first Chairman's message, I must start by thanking the Delta Chapter's Board of Directors for entrusting me in this honor. I look forward to working with the broad scope of oil and gas professionals as we work together for the betterment of our industry.

The API/Delta Chapter has served the New Orleans region for more than 30 years. Our program of work has changed over the years, but not our commitment to our community.

The Delta Chapter takes great pride in providing numerous educational programs that promote our industry. The Chapter offers awards to students and their teachers participating in the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair held at UNO. We sponsored the FIRST LEGO competition and the FIRST Bayou Regional Robotics Competition. And, we offer a $1,000 college scholarship to a student who participates in the Robotics competition.

It has been a very busy six months. In March, we hosted the Annual Meritorious Service Awards Luncheon where we honored Mr. Matthew Wandstrat, Senior Advisor, Baker Hughes, Inc. and Mr. Joe Leimkuhler, Shell International, Offshore Well Delivery Manager. The keynote speaker was Ms. Rayola Dougher, Senior Economic Advisor, American Petroleum Institute.

In April, we hosted the Annual Father/Son Clay shoot, which was another huge success. Hats off to the event Chair, Bob Bailey, Barbara Edmonds, Chapter Secretary and to all the volunteers that pulled it all together. Great team work!

Proceeds from the event will go to sponsor our programs such as the energy exhibit at the Louisiana Children's Museum (LCM). We sponsor special programs at the museum such as "Super Science Saturday" and "FETCH Oil and Energy Saturday". Members of the Chapter donate their time and talents to assist in these activities, bringing excitement and fun to the learning process for both children and their parents.

The next six months will continue to be busy for the Delta Chapter. In July, we will participate in FETCH Oil Saturday at the LCM. August we will host our annual Technical Luncheon and in September, its time for our annual Golf Tournament. We will end the year in November with our Joint Society Luncheon, bringing together over 20 active professional oil industry associations.

Hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!
